Celebrate your way with Dolores Chili

No matter the size, no matter the topping, a hot dog is considered the all American treat. You can dress it up with chili, relish, onions, and mustard, or dress it down with just a little bit of ketchup; anyway you go about it, a hot dog is a reflection of you. July 23rd is about you and your hotdog, so celebrate your way! Throw some Dolores chili on your dog and let’s have a party to celebrate one of the tastiest days of the year – National Hot Dog Day!

Here are some tasty recipes to make YOUR day extra special. This first recipe is sure to knock you off your rocker!

Firecracker Dolores Chili Dog

1 Dolores Chili Brick

1 (5 ounce) bottle Tabasco sauce

1/3 cup chopped red onion

1 teaspoon oregano

4 hot dogs

4 hot dog buns

In a resealable bag, combine the Tabasco, onion, and oregano. Add the hot dogs and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 2 to 24 hours, turning occasionally.

Prepare Dolores Chili as directed.

Drain the hot dogs, reserving the marinade. Grill the hot dogs over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning several times. Toast the buns during the last minute of grilling time.

While hot dogs are cooking, put the reserved marinade in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.

Serve hot dogs in buns, topped with Dolores Chili, some of the reserved marinade and onions or relish if desired.

Dolores’ Dogs in the Garden

1 Dolores Chili Brick

4 hot dogs

4 hot dog buns

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced cucumber

1 cup diced tomato

1 cup diced avocado

1 cup diced yellow bell pepper

1 cup sliced green onion

1 cup shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese.

Prepare Dolores Chili as directed.

Grill the hot dogs over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning several times. Toast the buns during the last minute of grilling time.

Serve hot dogs in buns topped with chili, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, avocado, bell pepper, green onion, and cheese.

This last recipe is for all you bacon lovers out there! This dog is the all American way to celebrate if you ask me!

Bacon Dolores Chili Cheese Dog

1 Dolores Chili Brick

4 hot dogs

4 hot dog buns

4 slices of cheddar cheese

8 pieces of bacon

1 cup diced onions

1 cup diced tomatoes

Prepare Dolores Chili as directed.

Prepare bacon as directed.

Grill the hot dogs over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning several times.

During the last minute of grilling time, put the buns on the grill and put a slice of cheese on the buns until the cheese melts.

Place hot dog in bun, and top off with chili, and bacon.

Serve as desired with mustard, onions, and tomatoes.
